I cannot finish reading this book!

By Emma TommovaJanuary 31, 2019January 31, 2019

There are books which I just cannot read.

I want, I start, I get somewhere and … I stop.

There are not too many books of this kind in my life, but I can share which books are these.

Naturally, I thought a lot about it. I am not saying that I was exactly worried and ashamed. Why do I stop, what is the reason? Am I not ready for this exact book right now!? Or is it just not the time and I need another one ?!

Moreover, for these books I am convinced that they are valuable and that they have to be read.

Should we read forcibly?

My answer is yes 🙂

I’m not saying it’s right for everyone. In my consciousness and in my values the book is sacredness. I have no wonder and hesitation about the importance of reading. I even claim it is a must. I do not hesitate to “punish for unreadness” 🙂 And keep in mind these are just my discoursing …

But I do not have the time for these particular books, which are my “stumbling stones”.

Here they are:

1. Umberto Eco’s “The Name of the Rose”.

Classic! I started it four times and got to page 77. I will read it someday.

2. Clarissa Pincola Estes “Women Who Run With the Wolves”.

I admit, the greatest shame I feel is that I just cannot read this book. In addition, I’ve started it several times, I’m almost finished a half of it. I have the feeling that this work is so full of meaning, symbols and sacraments that I really have to be in a specific stage of my life to read it all the way. I also want to think it through well enough.

3. The Lost Donkeys by Professor Valeri Stefanov.

Although autographically inscribed for me, the wonderful Prof. Stefanov failed to grab me with his book and I probably did not grow up for her.

Every book is read, experienced, perceived in different ways in different periods of our lives. The same book gives us special messages depending on our level in our particular life stage. There is no way Dostoevsky (for example) is sensed by a man who has read five books in his life, the same way as by a man who has read hundreds of books. In general, there are many factors … but it is a fact that we grow with the books, rise, transform. Moreover, it is achievable for everyone.

Do you have any books that you could not fully read?
